When prevention
became personal.
“Medicine has made treatment extraordinary. Our work is to make long-term prevention just as powerful.”
A career built on evidence.
A physician-scientist trained in medicine at the University of Algiers, with a PhD in immunology from the University of Montreal and postdoctoral research at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology, Dr. Bouguermouh became Director of Clinical Research at Pfizer. There, he was part of the team that conducted the pivotal trial of the first authorized COVID-19 mRNA vaccine and co-authored its results in the New England Journal of Medicine. In parallel, he pursued executive education in artificial intelligence at Columbia University.
From physician to patient.
In November 2022, Dr. Bouguermouh underwent emergency coronary bypass surgery. He received outstanding care at every step, from his cardiologist’s diagnosis to the surgical team and the follow-up that guided his recovery. For that, he remains deeply grateful.
Recovery doesn’t end at discharge.
At home, he saw how much of recovery happens between appointments: medications, activity, nutrition and the questions that come with them. He also saw that recovery involves more than the patient. Families want to help but often don’t know how, and care teams have little visibility between visits. That is why he founded PrevAI Health: to build an agentic AI platform with the patient at the center, supporting them every day while connecting their family and care team, so that everyone can help the patient.
Saelia takes shape.
Saelia, now in alpha, is an agentic AI platform that supports patients every day after a hospitalization for a heart condition or procedure. Patients can talk with Saelia at any time, and it already knows their medical history and how they’ve been doing over weeks and months. Around them, Saelia keeps family, friends and the care team informed and involved. Together, they form an environment that helps patients build healthy habits and sustain them for life. Next come the beta and the first pilots with health systems.
Prevent the second event. Then the first.
Dr. Bouguermouh brings to this mission a rare combination: training as a physician and scientist, years leading clinical research, a foundation in artificial intelligence, and the experience of a heart patient. His goal is to help every patient prevent a second cardiac event and, ultimately, to help people at risk prevent the first. If you share this vision, as a clinician, a hospital leader or an investor, we would love to hear from you.
